Italy, Milan: Proel for the "Costruire con la Musica" project

Sponsored by Milano Musica Association in collaboration with the Teatro alla Scala and the Music Fund association, “Costruire con la Musica” is a project whose goal is to collect musical instruments for Middle Eastern and African Music Schools and for the rising System of Children's and Youth Orchestras and Choirs in Italy.
A serious attempt to spread music, intended as a factor of development and of social and cultural integration, is the core of this endeavor, which received the support of pianist and conductor Daniel Barenboin.
Proel took part in the project and helped with the organization of the event held on Sunday May 29th  in Milan at Scala Ansaldo Labs between 11 am and 10 pm. Thanks to numerous supporters, 605 instruments were collected, from classic and modern string instruments to wind instruments, from drumsets to keyboards.  
The instruments given to Music Fund in Milan will be taken to the Music Fund Headquarters in Belgium where they will be checked and, if need be, restored, then they will be shipped to the schools they are meant for:  A.M. Qattan Foundation (Gaza), Al Kamandjati (Ramallah, Jenin), Barenboim-Said Foundation (Ramallah), Escola Nacional de Musica e Universidade Eduardo Mondlane (Maputo), Institut National des Arts Le Griot (Kinshasa), Nablus the Culture (Nablus), Orpheus (Nazareth). New projects in South Africa and Morocco are in progress.
Each instrument will be given a code to let the donors follow its path and create a virtual bridge between them and their beneficiaries in the Middle East, in Africa or elsewhere. 
In the meantime, the System of Children's and Youth Orchestras and Choirs is taking its first steps. The project was the idea of Claudio Abbado. The famous conductor was inspired by the Venezuelan network of choirs and orchestras created by Antonio Abreu in 1975 to offer a fascinating alternative to social unrest and violence to more than 2 million kids in Venezuela. The common feature is the claim that music is a social and universal resource to which all social classes can have access in order to achieve social, educational and cultural progress.  
Lukas Pajron, founder and director of Music Fund, who was in Milan on the 29th of May, wanted to thank Milano Musica and all its partners for donating instruments to the “Costruire con la Musica” project. 
Solidarity never dies, despite the times of crisis...
